What a fabulous Mal-Don Championship Prize Giving we had on Saturday 7th January.  All three winners were decked out in their show finest, their horses beautifully turned out, and family and friends came along to support each winner.

The sponsors of the Mal-Don Championship, Paul and Paula Brazier, handed out each of the amazing prizes to the Champion - Gemma Parkes on BBF Red Lion, the Reserve Champion - Gaelann East with Mumaathel, and the 3rd Runner Up - Annette Dolphin with Cavalier Bonnie Lass, as well as their amazing Rosettes and a Champion Sash for Red.

Each of the horses received a bunch of carrots, which they totally earned by being so well behaved whilst all the photos were being taken.  A lap of honour was then taken by each winner, to rounds of applause from the supporters.  It was magical.

This was the last year the Mal Don Championship would be running, what a fantastic five years it has been.  We wanted to thank everyone who took part in the Championship, but most importantly, a HUGE thank you to the amazing sponsors, Mr & Mrs Paul and Paula Brazier, without whom this Championship would never have happened.

The Mal-Don Championship 2020

We are absolutely delighted to announce the winners of the Mal-Don Championship for 2020. It was all very close coming into the final show but that's what the Championship is all about.

The final result is :

Mal-Don 3rd Place Runner Up 2020 - Amanda Taplin on Blue Gem

Mal-Don 4th Place Runner Up 2020 - Cara Rogers on Langaller Poldark

What a fantastic Mal-Don Championship Prize Giving we had in December 2020, albeit very different under COVID safety measures and restrictions.  All four winners were decked out in their show finest, their horses beautifully turned out, and only accompanied by a single Family/Bubble person to support each of them this year.  But still, the atmosphere was electric and one of joy.

The sponsors of the Mal-Don Championship, Paul and Paula Brazier, handed out each of the amazing prizes to the Champion - Suzanne Crockford on Croft Vigo, the Reserve Champion - Alison Faulkner on Floreat Angelina, the 3rd Runner Up - Amanda Taplin on Blue Gem, and the 4th Runner Up - Cara Rogers on Langaller Poldark, as well as their amazing Rosettes and a stunning Champion Sash for Croft Vigo.

Each of the horses received a bunch of carrots, which they totally earned by being so well behaved whilst the photos were being taken.  A socially distanced lap of honour was then taken by each winner, to rounds of applause from the small bubble of Supporters and Simply The Best music by Tina Turner in accompaniment.  It was magical.

The Mal-Don Championship 2018

We had a fantastic finish to our year with the 2018 Mal-Don Championship Prizegiving. Our three winners all turned up in their perfectly turned out show outfits, looking absolutely marvellous, and the sponsors, Paul and Paula Brazier proceeded with the Prizegiving.

Our Mal-Don 2018 Champion was Beth Mantel with Media Man, who received a fabulous commemorative rug along with a beautiful Championship Rosette and Sash. Gemma Parkes with Kingstead Capone were our Reserve Champion and received a wonderful commemorative Saddle Pad along with the beautiful Reserve Champion Rosette, and our Third Runner Up, Rachael Taylor with Jack received the lovely commemorative Le Mieux Bandages as well as the beautiful 3rd place Rosette. The horses all received a bunch of carrots as a huge well done, which they were extremely happy with. Finally all the winners received a credit voucher for a future class at one of our shows.

Each took a lap of honour to tremendous applause from all their family and friends and everyone from The Croft Equestrian Centre who attended the event. We are so proud of all of them.

Well done to Beth, Gemma and Rachael for making our first Mal-Don Championship so special, thank you so much.

We begin the qualifying rounds of the 2019 Mal-Don Championship at our 2nd March Show; we hope that many more will enter in 2019.
